Varametrix Corporation was
established in 1991 to develop custom
printers and peripherals primarily for the point-of-sale
market. Through a close association with Citizen Business
Machines and Peripheral Resources (a CBM distributor) several
successful products have been developed for such customers as
American Express, US Postal Service, UHAUL, EPIC, US Games,
Lefebure, Micros, and De La Rue, among others.
The primary design engineer for
Varametrix is David Pierce. He has 20 years of experience
designing microprocessor based digital and analog electronic
systems. He acts as a consultant to the Institute of
Geophysics and Planetary Physics at UCLA where he has designed
data acquisition systems for geophysical research as well as
magnetic measuring instrumentation onboard earth orbiting
satellites. He also acts as a consultant to CBM America to
support customization of their line of receipt printers.
Some of the products
Varametrix Corporation currently produces are: an interface
board which drives the CBM-600 series of print mechanisms, a
serial interface small format QWERTY keyboard, and a memory
module that stores 2Mbytes of data which interfaces to the
CBM-3540 printer.
